Historias Desde el Albergue is a digital archive of art that elevate migrants’ voices. Through photographs, music, and videos, Central American migrants in México have the opportunity to document, process, and present their their past lives, their present migratory journeys, and the future borders they will cross. Migrants work with cultural organizer Andrea Gordillo, Artist in Residence at Arts Connect International, to create a body of work that will be shown all over the world.
Although migrants struggle to physically cross borders, we believe that when they share their rich, unique, and valuable ideas and voices, which can cross with greater ease, they can claim power over their own lives and take a more active role to change the policies that oppress them.
